Broadcast results
Follow the deliveries, opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes of a sent broadcast, and see the status of each recipient.
Once your broadcast is sent, RandomCoffee tracks what happens to each email: delivered, opened, clicked, bounced or unsubscribed.
See your results at a glance
The “Broadcasts” page shows, for each sent broadcast, its “Delivered”, “Opened”, “Clicked” and “Bounced” rates.
Click a broadcast to see its detailed results. A sent broadcast has four tabs:
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| “Overview” | The date and time zone of the send, and every metric, as a number and a rate. |
| “Recipients” | The audiences the broadcast was sent to and the people they include. |
| “Content” | A preview of the email that was sent. |
| “Sent” | The log of every email sent, with the status of each recipient. |
Understand the metrics
The “Overview” tab shows each metric twice: as numbers at the top, and as bars in “All time metrics”.
Each metric counts recipients, and each rate is that number divided by the “Queued” number. A recipient counts once per metric, even if they open or click the email several times.
| Metric | What it counts | What to aim for |
|---|---|---|
| “Queued” | The recipients of the broadcast: one email is prepared for each of them. This is the base of every rate. | |
| “Sent” | The emails that left RandomCoffee. | |
| “Delivered” | The emails accepted by the recipient’s email server. | The higher, the better. |
| “Opened” | The emails opened at least once by the recipient. | The higher, the better: your communication engaged people. |
| “Clicked” | The emails in which the recipient clicked at least once: an image, a banner, a logo, a text link or a button. | The higher, the better. |
| “Bounced” | The emails rejected by the recipient’s email server. | The lower, the better. |
| “Unsubscribed” | The recipients who unsubscribed with the unsubscribe link of the email. | The lower, the better. |
Opens and clicks are counted only when open tracking and click tracking are on (the “Tracking” line of the “Review” tab, see Create a broadcast).
If you spread out the delivery with “⚙️ Delivery rate”, emails go out over several hours. Wait until all your members have been reached to see the final numbers.
Why emails bounce
An email can bounce because:
- spam filters rejected the message;
- the recipient’s address is misspelled or does not exist on the receiving system;
- the recipient’s inbox is full.
To reduce your bounce rate, send your emails from your own company domain: see Custom sending domain and SMTP server. Your IT team can also allowlist RandomCoffee: see Email delivery and participation tracking.
Find who opened, clicked or bounced
Under each number of the “Overview” tab, a link opens the list of the recipients concerned, in the “Sent” tab.
The “Sent” tab lists every email of the broadcast, with its “Created Date”, “Subject”, “Recipient / Coworker” and “Status”. You can:
- filter by “Status”: “Pending”, “Sent”, “Delivered”, “Opened”, “Clicked”, “Bounced”, “Rejected” or “Unsubscribed”;
- search for a recipient;
- sort the list by “Last created”, “Last updated”, “Email” or “Status”;
- open a row with the ”+” icon to see its “Sent Date”, “Delivered Date”, “Opened Date” and “Clicked Date”.
The status of a recipient is the furthest step their email reached. For example, a recipient who opened the email, then clicked a link, has the “Clicked” status.
