Matching rules are based on categories, audiences, and members.
You can add as many rules as you like. The higher a rule is on the list, the more the algorithm will prioritize it. Feel free to drag and drop the different rules to rank them appropriately.
Default rules
By default, 2 rules are applied:
Members who have already been matched will not be matched together again
Members are matched based on the preferences they've set in their Member Portal
These default rules cannot be removed. However, you can adjust their priority relative to other rules by reordering them in the list.
Category-based
You can create a simple rule based on a particular category, where you have to specify whether you want to:
match people with the same category values (e.g., members who have the same favorite sport)
match people with different category values (e.g., members who belong to different departments)
To create a category-based matching rule, you just have to:
Add a rule
Choose "Category"
Select your category in the list
Select your logic
Value-based
It's a more sophisticated rule in which you could allow or prohibit matches by playing with category values (within the same category or across different categories).
To create a value-based matching rule, you just have to:
Add a rule
Choose "Category values"
Select your value(s) in the 2 dedicated fields (within the same category or not)
Select your logic between the two ("match with" or "don't match with")
Free text, dates, numbers and yes/no categories cannot be used here.
Audience-based
This rule enables you to leverage the Audiences in your matchmaking.
To create an audience-based matching rule, you just have to:
Add a rule
Choose "Audience"
Select your Audiences in the 2 dedicated fields
Select your logic between the two ("match with" or "don't match with")
Member-based
You can also create rules based on specific members, to create exceptions or to force matching between specific people.
To create an member-based matching rule, you just have to:
Add a rule
Choose "Specific members"
Type the names of the members in the 2 dedicated fields
Select your logic between the two ("match with" or "don't match with")
